My tailbone hurts whenever I attempt to do some Pilates Exercise routines. I need your opinion.?

Question by lucius_sorrow: My tailbone hurts whenever I attempt to do some Pilates Exercise routines. I need your opinion.?
I’ve started Pilates at home with the help of a DVD video 2 days ago. It’s just that my tailbone hurts everytime I try some of the routines. Rolling like a ball while holding the ankles, balancing with my feet streched upwards etc. are just some of the routines that give me a sore tailbone.

I wonder what could be done to stop the pain…

  1. How long has it been since you exercised? Have you ever done exercises like this? You could be working parts of your body that have not worked out like this before. If you can consult your physician..not the emergency room. Try some motrin or advil…they take the inflamation away. Try stretching more through out the day….this will help keep muscles from getting too sore. Hope this helps.

  2. I do pilates all the time, and have the same problem. Im a small person so I get the same feeling from mid spine to tailbone! I do my pilates on a mat and anything that involves rolling I put a pillow under my back (lengthwise, perfect length for my torso), that way, when I roll, my entire spine and tailbone never crunch into the floor, plus the pillow isnt fluffy enough to alter my rolls, just help absorb some of the shock! Hope this helps, good luck!
