Non-noisy exercise that can be done indoors and that isn’t yoga/pilates?

Question by sabinemat: Non-noisy exercise that can be done indoors and that isn’t yoga/pilates?
I get home late at night so can’t really go jogging safely and I also live in an apartment block so it can’t be too ‘jolty’ or noisy AND yoga and pilates have a tendency of doing bad things to my back (plus I’m not flexible so they just plain old hurt) help me!! Since my new hours I’ve been putting on weight- I need exercise!

  1. Elliptical machines are pretty quiet. I use one every morning in the room next to our bedroom, and my husband doesn’t hear it. If you want to do strength training, you could use exercise bands or free weights.

  2. I like step aerobics, but that can be noisier. I also do sit ups. What about getting an elliptical? It’s sort of like a bike, but it is better on your knees and you can do it in front of the tv with NO noise. Craigslist always has a great selection of used equipment like that. And cheap!

  3. Oh – then do CORE – its really cool.

Actually, it should be used with other things, like some cardio, but I understand getting home late and not being able to do much.

I started doing core more then yoga anyway, and it really tones up everything. It is hard to explain how – so here is a great website to show you the basics. Try them out and then change them up a bit.

Anyway – there are a lot of other web sites to look at describing core exercises.

    Good luck!!
