Question by R C: How did Joseph pilates’ “workout” get started?
Answer by Philippmikio
Pilates was a German who went to spent many years in an English prison during WWII. During this time, he started to develop his technique inside his cell. He started teaching it to the other prisoners. A devastating influenza devastated the world at that time, killing about 50 million people. None one of the prisoners died while the guards became sick. The guards too started to learn the technique of Pilates. Pilates later met Max Schmelling, a German boxer and went with him to the US where he developed his technique further and trained Schmelling.
Hope that this helps 😉
