Why do people believe Jesus is gods son?

Question by Don: Why do people believe Jesus is gods son?
First of all god isn’t real and I dont think Mary was a virgin when she was pregnant with Jesus. She obviously got knocked up by some random guy and used god as a cover up so Joseph wouldn’t kill her.

  1. You have your beliefs, others have theirs. I believe Jesus is the Son of God because He said so and I’ve learned to trust Him.

  2. Wow! Your insights are so original! We’ve never heard those before!
Let me go in the corner and rock nervously, hoping that your flawless logic doesn’t get the best of my blind faith.

  3. I heard that Mary got raped by some guard. Or rather, I heard that a friend heard that Mary got raped by some guard.

Anyhow, I believe it because it sounds cool.

  4. Well your an atheist….why do you care? If you dont think God’s real, obviously the Virgin birth is fake to you. But, i gotta say life make a whole lot more sense saying that a Prime Cause willed everything into existence than to say that all existence either comes from an infinite regress, or that it comes from nothing. Thats basically what the atheistic position leaves you with. Now if God is real, the virgin birth is no problem. But really, why ask pointless questions?

  5. Because the Bible says so, and who wrote the Bible? God! How do we know? Because the Bible says so.

I don’t know why people who believe the Jesus crap can be the same people who look at the man on the street yelling that the world will end as crazy. Essentially they are the same people. I could say right now that I’m the reincarnation of the Virgin Mary. There is no reason that you should believe me.

I don’t think that it’s wrong to believe such things, but it’s not very logical. I think people need to rethink a lot of the things they accept as reality,

  6. No need to confess so late in the game, Dude.
Just let all those millions of people die happy and you’re home scot free.

  7. Sorry… while your question is a good one, and shows someone asking a legitimate question seeking an intelligent reply, your follow-up comment is completely childish. Can I ask you a question? What difference would it make how Christ was born? Would that change His message one iota? People follow Christ because they find His teachings worthy of following. What you should do is read the New Testament and rather than your usual looking for things not to believe in, try looking for things which ring true. Or do you not feel a message of love and the brotherhood of man is worthy of following?

  8. “I would have loved to overheard that conversation where Mary explained to Joseph that she’s pregnant.
    Mary: Joseph
    Joseph: Yeah
Mary: You know we’ve never made love
    Joseph: YEAH
Mary: Well, anyway last night an angel visited me and now I’m pregnant
    Joseph: Jesus Christ!
Mary: Oh, you already know about it”

  9. Believing and faith are gifts from God. I wanted the gift of being able to recognize and believe truth and He gave me that gift. You have not because you want not. So sad.

  10. Because everyone has the right to choose freely as they see fit. A deeper question is where did these rights originate?

  11. The bible is what is called “Faction” A fictional story set in a factual time and place. Thus the time, place and real historical characters are all correct but the fictional characters and stories are not!

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record – that is right – not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah – all of whom are well recorded!

There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?

Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!

At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!

  12. A belief is simply a choice without truth, this is why many believe in faith.
Faith is believing a belief will become a truth.

Without complete Truth belief is able to exist.
To know the complete Truth, choice in belief cannot exist.

Mankind in this way, can and does, believe whatever mankind wants.
Mankind has a choice. Freedom of thought is a gift.

  13. < >

Prophecies from the Father, written down in the OT testify to the Messiah being the Son of God.
Jesus Himself testifies to being the Son of God. His Miracles prove His Divinity; His Sonship.

    < >

    God IS real.

    < >

The Virgin Birth was one of the prophecized Signs of the coming of the Messiah.

    < wouldn’t kill her.>>

WRONG WRONG WRONG! Such a claim is BLASPHEMY. She would only make it for one of two reasons:
    1) Mary would claim a Virgin conception ONLY if she actually WANTED to be stoned to death.
    2) Because the Virgin conception was actually True.

Given that Jesus did EVERYTHING the Son of God was prophecized to do in His time on earth, it’s obvious Mary was telling the Truth about the Virgin conception.
