Hi, I really want to lose 30lbs because I’m about 50lbs overweight. But I also want to get a really tight core like I used to have but I don’t know whether I should start running and lose the weight first and THEN start pilates for my abs and stuff or if I should do both.

Speaking from personal experience and observation over the course of many years, I can say with some certainty that anyone who commits to Pilates workouts will create a trimmer appearance, and most will lose significant weight.

Exercise burns calories. How many calories you burn depends on your body type and your level of exertion.

Question by Ava: What is the best way to lose weight in my butt and thighs?
I’m giving myself the summer to get healthy. I weight about 143 pounds but all the weight goes to my butt and thighs. By the end of the summer ideally I’d like to be at 125 but realistically I am very unmotivated and lazy so I don’t see me losing more than maybe 10 pounds. I have a tredmil in my house and that is my only equipment. So how could I go about losing some of the fat from my butt and thighs? Thanks

Go to youtube.com and type in Dr. Neal Barnard. He has a lot of videos you can watch. I recommend his series of 4 short videos, total time under an hour. He hardly mentions exercise in the videos, but he’s very much in favor of it.

There are a lot of other videos you will see advertised on YouTube. I encourage you to give them a try.

Is there a way to exercise and not gain muscle because I have heard that muscle weighs more than fat and you get that when you exercise. Well I am a lot overweight right now and I am scared that since I have been working out that I will get muscle and then I will weigh even more. Because I already weigh a whole lot more than I should and I don’t want to weigh even more?
