What are some good Yoga and/or Pilates exercises?

Question by : What are some good Yoga and/or Pilates exercises?
I’m trying to slim down and tone up a bit for modelling and in addition to eating healthier I’m also exercising. Some of my favourite models do a lot of yoga and pilates and I’d love to take classes, but I can’t afford it. So I was wondering what some good, basic exercises are for both types of movement? I am specifically focusing on slimming down my hips, stomach and thighs if there are any particular exercises for that.
Thank you!!!
xoxo

I’ve done Pilates. It is very good for back problems. It’s taught in a lot of different styles and consistency. You’re not going to walk into every Pilates class and get the same thing.

Not being able to do situps or some pilates exercises without someone holding down feet: Is it a core issue?

Question by Niki T: Not being able to do situps or some pilates exercises without someone holding down feet: Is it a core issue?
I’m wondering because it seems that every time I watch a pilates instruction video, they seem to have no issue doing the moves without someone holding their feet down and I do.

I am not fat but I am slightly larger than the fitness models on these things and I carry a lot of my weight in my bust so is this just a matter of being too top heavy or if I keep at it, can I eventually be able to do it on my own?

keep trying. don’t quit because of a minor set back. don’t worry. once you’ve done it so many times, you will be fine on your own. try putting heavy books on your feet instead of a person. technically that is doing it on your own. =) Just kidding. Don’t stop trying!

Instead of pilates try yoga. Yoga works more on your core (abs.etc,) and that’s what you need to work on for jumps espec if you break in the middle when trying to land them.

When running, run at a moderate pace and just run until you can’t run anymore and then run some more. It’s all about pushing yourself past your limits to see results. I would try to run opposite the days you skate or every other day!

Look for downloads off the internet or just buy a cheap tape from any store that sells them!

Good luck!
