Is it good to have equipments like the ones on TV (I know not necessary). Also is it possible to lose weight with pilates? Any girls there achieved to lose some extra weight with pilates workouts?

Basic Pilates equipment includes mats and balls (in fact balls become popular recently) and for starting you do not anything more. You can learn Pilates watching workouts on DVD or on net. By the way one more good pilates equipments is pilates magic circle.

I think to lose weight you can also do cardio training with pilates to get results.

As I say get a mat, a ball, and some comfortable pilates clothes to start, they are very affordable.
